I totally forgot that it was the new year until I got a voice message from my parents. But I did think of it a few days ago! My grandmother was born in the year of the pig, so this year, she's supposed to be extra lucky.

My university actually canceled class today. Sadly, we have class tomorrow - not that that actually affects me since I don't have class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but it does mean I have to show up to lab.

However, there's the problem of differences between dialects. Someone in Quebec who speaks French will be a little different (even in their writing) than someone from France or someone from a French-speaking country in Africa.
