I've only gotten it twice and that's when the halo/arc was close to the rod so I didn't have to move it at all. But it was outside the dot area. Of course when I try to put it in the same area farther away it hasn't worked yet so I'm not really sure if that's right.

ok, I'm trying just on the edge of the shadow of the dots

EDIT: Didn't seem to work. Trying the edge of the solid white arc

Here's what it looked like when it worked for me (I shouldn't have saved it as gif since it screwed up the color but oh well). But I still haven't be able to get it to work farther away so like I said it might not be accurate.


edit: I just got it once when I had to move the rod farther away (instead of the arc being close enought so I didn't have to move the rod at all) ... still can't get it regularly but I'll keep trying.

I gave up on heat rods for now, it's just too frustrating, and I'm toying with the other two. I don't know how to approach the dessicant puzzle yet, but you can't go wrong randomly trying to find a singularity. It's really random -- click somewhere, and you'll either find one or you won't -- but eh.

Whoop. I mean, you can attempt one of the other steps (melting control rods, creating acidic solutions, or sniffing out singularities) while you wait for the others to re-load. Can't perform the testing procedure itself during this time, however.

EDIT: Grimlex's guide might be able to help...

EDIT EDIT: The Yurbot just informed me that "If at first you don't succeed, you fail." Where have I heard that line before...?

I wound up in a dissolving room (#9)...and I think I almost got the rod-ness down...

Are all the steps in some sort of rooms? Or when a room gets "done" does it move to dissolving?

On the other hand, I found two black holes.
