Changing a Username...is there a way?

As far as I knew, there was never a written rule saying you couldn't change usernames every week... You could always bring the hack back (OH YEAH RHYME) and make a rule, like, "only change usernames once a month or so"... Just suggestin'.

I kind of like that idea. It seems that quite a few people want it back, and maybe there would be less controversy if it was added, but there was a limit to how often you could change your name.

But to think about it from another perspective, that would be relatively hard to enforce unless there was another hack available to prevent frequent name changes.

Well, take Feather/Squibble/Chii for instance. She changed her name very many times, but after a short amount of time, everyone knew who she was. If someone changed their name in a short period of time, SOMEONE would notice. And if some staff member or something made an announcement or something saying to report these sightings, then I don't think it would be a problem. Okay, well, it could be, but not a huge problem.

I just think it would be quite nice to be able to change names every once in a while. But, we have lived without it this long...

Well, as long as they at least posted one time, the name changes on that post too, so you'll be able to tell who they are... Hmm, that's hard to explain... Let's say someone with the username "Foofy Marshmallow" posted, and then changed their name to "Fluffy Textbox", well the post made when they were Foofy Marshmallow would still be there, but it would say that they're Fluffy Textbox. So it's not too hard to keep track of 'em. And if they didn't post? Well, the admin control panel shows the I.P. address of the people online, so you COULD find out who they are that way, I think...

Another forum I know of does have a hack or something limiting name changes, but I'm not too sure if it's phpBB or whatever PPT is. (is Gaia Online phpBB?)

Just a little while before the old forums died a hack was newly installed, it was if you went to someones profile you could see there last usernames or something like that, and so you could always tell who they were, CCC is pretty much dead because of no name changing, but what can ya' do.

Last time I checked, Gaia's hack only allowed a certain number of name changes before it became permanent. I really don't think you'd like something like that.

While we do appreciate the suggestions, the name changing will not return anytime soon.
