i posted this on the boards:

Same trouble. I'm stuck with an accidental pound pet that's making my account look quite unfit.

Just be patient while its fixed everyone.
Or, just change the color/species of your pet. :D

I believe it's fixed now. At first it was trying to contact something like dev.neopets.com-- and now it's returned to the usual "petpages.neopets.com" when you go to disown.
