Congrats! You made it out somehow!
And look at that, the prize was waiting for you out here all along! Surprised you missed that going in actually...

You've found:
648 NP!
Baelia Stamp

First time finding anything! Woohoo! Now there are only 100 plot related items I still need (including a few discontinued, plus a few map pieces to complete a set).

Edit 9/1:

Chapter 10 is out! I found the final extra note for the achievement. New BD challenger and volunteer shift. Looks like we should be getting a big battle soon based on the achievements list. I should probably stop procrastinating on finalizing my set. I need to go look at the list again.

I now need 98 items (but that's including most of the new BD prizes I should get in the next few days). It's going down every few days. I've still only gotten one prize from the caves. Maybe tomorrow?

Edit: Woohoo! I followed the suggestion of the boards to always go left in the caves (which is a strategy that can help you get out of most mazes in the real world), and I got the achievement on my first visit today! Plus a centre head stamp. Then I found the chest (but not exit) again and got... Another centre head stamp. If anyone wants to trade that stamp for one of the other prizes of comparable value, just let me know.

I still need the pumpkin stick and dark cave background from Cosy Campfire (plus a bunch of prizes from the new games and the weekly bonuses), but at least I have all the achievements.

This is great to know. I'll try all left from now on. I have not done well so far.

Then again, I have two right head stamps. I'll be happy to trade a right for center :)

I sent you the centre head stamp for a trade, and then I did the all lefts strategy again today, and I found both the right and left stamps (plus the exit again once!). So you can just keep the centre head stamp. (Or if you really want to give me something, just find something really cheap on my wishlist, but it's really not necessary. I have a feeling these stamps are going to be worth 1NP since they're currently the only prize. I wish they'd kept the items from the original prize pool.)

That's 4/5 times I've tried all left turns and found the treasure, and 3/5 times I found the exit. Not bad!

I thought it was probably sampling bias at work (because I've found the exit before, and others have found both using other strategies), and the more people who try the same route, the more people are going to end up having success even if the probability is actually the same (the same way that lottery shops that sell a winning ticket get more traffic, and then they sell even more winning tickets because they're just selling so many tickets).

But I definitely had way less than a 50% chance choosing right as my first option for a couple of weeks, and now choosing left has had this success rate? I'm going to keep it up -- at least until it stops working.

The "Left" advice is solid. I picked up another Right Head stamp, but failed to make it out. Perhaps tomorrow I'll succeed and get the achievement?

I completed the trade for the stamp before reading your entire post. Feel free to keep it. I still have two ;)

I will continue to go only left now, since the odds are clearly more in my favor that way.

ETA: After going 2 for 3 getting a stamp, but 0 for 3 getting out since going all left, today, I got the stamp and exited! Woot! 8) Achievement... unlocked! Yay!

I did fail to collect Void Elements on both Friday and Saturday. Ooops. RL on Saturday kicked my tuchus.

Very unfortunate finding under my truck when changing the oil. Not a happy camper. Truck is now oil-deprived and waiting for a replacement part that appears to have been damaged by the Dealer at some point in the past (prior to me owning this truck). Buggers damaged the car and did a "band aid fix. Band-aid came off, and now I get to "fix it right." Ugh. So annoying. Why not go back at the dealer and make them fix it? Great question. No proof they did it, other than nobody has worked on this truck than me since I bought it with ~35k miles on it. Fortunately, it's a fairly easy fix and the right part is not all that expensive, but I need to patiently wait until the part comes in at (a different) dealer. Replacing with a genuine OEM part, and ironically it is the lowest cost to buy it online from the dealer and pick it up.

They increased the points limit to 4k for chapter 10. New pages came out yesterday along with a tower defense game with two achievements and an avatar tied to it. Unfortunately, it's completely unplayable on my laptop. I couldn't actually place a single defense item in the 15 second build window (the timer appears to be the only part of the game without significant lag). I've heard it's not playable on mobile, either, so I've no idea how we're supposed to play it. I guess it works on some people's systems, but mine isn't that old, and I'm not investing in a gaming PC to play Neopets. They should be embarrassed to have released something so buggy. I wouldn't have turned it in for a programming class assignment.

Edit: I've been reading the boards, and while some people are having success on Chrome, others are struggling on that, Firefox, and even Opera. Apparently Edge works best -- the browser that only 5% of people use. I guess I'll log in there and try it on my laptop. Surely they'll fix it before ending the chance to get everything, right?

It's bad enough the extra items in the BD and in Doglefetch still are broken for ad watchers, and now they've added even more pay to play options for getting extra plot points, plus all the rare items premium players can get from the new wheels. When the majority of players are paid and I'm at too much of a disadvantage even with my account age and decades of dedication, I'll finally be able to peace out.

I figured I was the only one for which the game doesn't work. My Neopets computer works fine for 95% of things, but barely gets through the Void dialogs (when the characters are bouncing). I tried last night on my phone, and it was definitely not playable there, either.

ETA:
I tried to play this abomination on another computer and got a little further, but it's unclear what things are. It could be my computer(s), but the words are practically unreadable. Zooming in the page just makes them bigger and just as fuzzy. I made it partly through a round, but then decided to do something more productive and closed it down. Meh.

Received a pop-up to buy a Chapter Meter Energy Booster in the NC mall. This was probably mentioned already, but is this a one-time purchase for all future chapters, or is it $1.75 per chapter? Doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

This is a booster PER 1,000 plot points, up to 3 per chapter, individually purchased. These point do NOT count towards your trophy, but DO for the plot shop. So...you're literally purchasing the opportunity to buy more plot shop items. Seems so hypocritical it's ridiculous. "No, you cannot pay real money for items." (people do off site anyways). "Oh, here, pay us $8.75 and you, too, can have a Wand of the Dark Faerie."
TNT crossed a line with this that hacks me off. I could go on an entire rant on this specific thing, but unfortunately, I don't have time as I'm swamped. I will catch up on the guide, etc, when life settles down again.

There are two achievements and two avatars tied to this new game, and it's a piece of trash. We had tears here when the kiddos played it the first time, it lagged like crazy, and then errored out and failed to send their scores.

It's been a rough evening, I'm really grumpy, so I'll end this post here rather than rant more.

I was definitely put off by this, but then thought... I would like Neopets to be around for a while longer. To do that, they need money to pay their costs. They need to get it somehow, and I would bet that ad revenue and Premium do not cover all the bills. I am sure that these "excessive" NC items help. I am OK paying the cost of premium. No longer being subject to ads is fantastic, and some of the perks are very nice, but I will not be spending $1.75 to get an extra 1,000 plot points.

I managed to complete the tower defender game 3 times, but the lag made it glitch too badly to not lose resources in later rounds. And apparently the rounds I didn't lose any resources in didn't count towards that achievement. I'll try JN's guide next time I get a chance, and hopefully complete a game without losing resources for the two achievements. If I remember, I'll do the code for the easy avvie, but I don't think I'll play three games in one day again for the other avvie. My sanity is worth more than that.

By the way, I got it to work in Chrome on my desktop, but it stressed out my hard drive and processor.

Edit: JN's guide is the way to go (and place one extra tower near the right spawner with your extra resources before upgrading). I got both avatars and finished the achievements for act 3! Woohoo! It took about an hour, maybe a little less, to play the three games in a row, but the first game took far less time.

And JN's guide worked out perfectly to allow me to multitask by doing Duolingo on my phone. There's quite a bit of wiggle room for clicking when necessary, and you can have everything lined up so it takes minimal attention.

I don't think I'm even putting the prizes for this one on my wishlist, because I can't play that every day. But at least I still have all the achievements.

I am seriously annoyed. This smurfing Attack on Altador game is a piece of smurf dung. I have had a game going for... 7 hours. Yes, 7 hours. Same game. Each round was easily over an hour. On round 5, with 8 Void baddies left... it glitches. Game area goes white. And it reset. Seriously? So mad right now.

At a minimum, I should have received the Clever Strategist avvie. Nope.

I'll also bet that I will not get credit for the 128 void things towards the achievement, either.

Aww, Blue! It's not worth playing it that slowly! It's guaranteed to glitch. Here's what I played on: Windows 10 laptop with Chrome, 80% size (full size wouldn't fit vertically) and non-maximized window (max size top to bottom, about 3/4 size left to right, with JN's guide visible in another window on the right. If that hadn't worked, I'd have tried Edge. It was laggy at transition points and a bit slow, but the guys crawled across the screen smoothly.

I'd suggest going to a library, but the computers at mine are usually much slower and laggier than my laptop. But my laptop is several years old (at least five, probably closer to ten) and wasn't top of the line to begin with, so I would hope your computer is capable somehow.

Edit: just checked, and it took me 4 minutes from pressing start until wave 1 ended in my second game (which is much laggier). Oh, and read JN's guide about the quit game glitch. If you ever get the pop-up to resume play or quit, the quit button remains but is invisible, and if you accidentally click on it, it will destroy your progress. Maybe this happened to you?

Thanks Siniri. It was painfully slow on my Neo Computer. I had read the JN guide and was following their primary strategy, and saw the "Keep Out" area and was very carefully avoiding it. After thinking random clicking made things work, I figured out that on this "slow" computer, I needed hold down the mouse button "for a while" before it would register as a click. Lifting the button too soon negated the click. Trying to figure out a method for a faster computer that I can play this game, but not impact everything else I need to do. i.e., I need to remote into a computer somewhere and let it go in the background, which might include closing the remote connection to allow things to do their thing unattended. I am considering doing it all again the same way today as I did yesterday. Yes, this is the definition of insanity, but I will hopefully snag one avatar and the 5 rounds achievement. *sigh*

ETA: Only ~5 hours today. I made sure no other programs were running and turned off the screensaver. I noticed that when the screensaver kicks in, the pause window comes up. So, at least 2 hours faster.

Completed all 5 waves! Got the Congratulations banner! Got the "Something has gone wrong! Please refresh the page and try again!" pop-up :x

Then I refreshed the page as requested.... and got the "start game" screen.

And, no. I did not get the Towering Defender achievement :x :x :x

This is stupid.

Ouchies. I'm assuming it's an anti-cheating parameter kicking in because of the crazy amount of lag. Authentication getting lost or timing out. I wouldn't play if it's going to take more than an hour (ideally half an hour).

Maybe ask on the Neoboards? Or go to an internet cafe? There's a gaming bar here that lets you rent gaming PCs. Or maybe Best Buy? If a PC can play this awful game, it can play anything...

I found another computer and added remote access to it. It's a decently new computer with a relatively fresh install of Ubuntu Desktop, and I disabled the screensaver. The "Pause" screen comes up whenever the screensaver activates. I am using it now, and Firefox is the only (user) application running. It is working much faster. I also installed chrome on it yesterday, but the page auto-reloaded right after the first wave, taking me back to the beginning. Went back to Firefox, and Wave 1 took only 5-6 minutes, which is much better than over an hour. We'll see how it goes today. On the plus side, I have to remote windows open - one for the "dedicated" Attack on Altador, and the other for my "regular" Neo computer to do my normal dailies. It is working out well. Wave 2 in about 6 to 9 minutes. Not really tracking the time, just enjoying that it is working better.

Wish I could say the same about the PPT server. The issues are getting worse, and time to deal with it is limited.

ETA: With the newer computer, the latest game took only about an hour :D However, at the end, it says... "Error! Something went wrong!" :x

However, this was my fault. Doing dailies on one computer while Altador is going on another computer.. logged me out of Neopets on the Altador Computer. Sure, the game keeps right on going, but... nowhere to send the score. Ooops. Live and learn. Here we go again...

ETA2: Completed the next game in about an hour as well... Got the Congratulations banner! Got the "Something has gone wrong! Please refresh the page and try again!" pop-up again. I have played and completed this smurf dung of a game 4 times to completion and have zero credit for doing so. Now I am angry. :x

ETA3: I am not a quitter. However, I am very annoyed. Went back to try Chrome on the newer computer. Game definitely runs a bit faster in Chrome. Instead of repeating the insanity, this time, I clicked "End Game" during Wave 4. Score sent, Dead Void Beings were counted and reflected on that achievement. Next, I went for the DefeatVoid avatar, by Ending the game at the start of Wave 2 after one Voidling was killed. No avatar. But, did get 10 more points towards the Honorary Protector of Altador achievement. Maybe I typed too quickly?

ETA4: Played all the way through using Chrome. This time, it did not reset/reload mid-wave. And... No Error!! Received a Swift Darkfire Negg Bomb and the Clever Strategist Avvie. Finally. This game seems to have taken only about 40 minutes.

Confirmed. Played one more all the way through with Chrome. 40 minutes from start to finish (clicking fast forward through waves 2 thru 5's building phase.

I now have the Towering Defender Achievement. While 40 minutes still seems a bit slow, it's a lot better than 7 hours. I think I will be able to get the next achievement, and possibly the 3 in a row avatar tomorrow.

So... using Chrome appears to be the answer.

Seems like a good place to split this thread...

New Split is here
