My pets are also perpetually in the Neolodge. I used to keep one out for the Daily Quests, but with a recent update if they are all in the Neolodge then the daily quest is now auto-completed.
I also used to intentionally starve Tony, feeding him only glowing jelly to turn him glowing. After a decade or more, it was never successful, so I eventually dipped him a few years back after completing a Fountain Faerie's quest.
