*point to tongue prodded firmly into cheek*

Again, I was er...not serious.

Heheh.

He was a member of Hitler youth, but considering he's 78 and German you can let that slide as it was compulsary. I was just OMG HE'S A NAZI...just, because. Flippance.

As for the 'let's spread AIDS' remark...again, tongue in cheek, but it can be said that the previous pope contributed to the spread of AIDS in Africa due to going there and preaching about not using contraception (Condoms, really) in a society where abstinence was NOT really a feasible option. Not sensible.

I know, not the first time you're not being serious, but I myself just thought this was a serious issue in itself that shouldn't be joked around with :P Ah well, what can I do, nothing, exactly.

I realize that there was truth behind the comments though and I do know what you're talking about.

What's a serious issue?

New Pontif?

Well yeah, I suppose. Can't stop the igg from messing about though :P

I do think it's a shame that such a conservative, traditionalist was chosen- though not altogether surprising considering he was in Karol's ear for the past few years.

I'm pretty disappointed as well, mostly for the sake of a good friend of mine. My English teacher is a very faithful Catholic, but she's also very liberal. I bet she's really disappointed right now...

I'm not extremely conservative or liberal, I'm more in the middle. It doesn't make much difference to me whether the new pope is left or right. As a Catholic, I just hope that Pope Benedict XVI can solve the church's problems.

Our R.E teacher said there were two guys who were in the 'competition', for lack of a better phrase. Ratzinger, and Martini. Now /that/ would have been a cool Popes name...(I don't think its actually spelled like that though)

Although my family isn't a really religious family, we were hoping for a new Pope that wouldn't be quite so conservative... I'm surprised that he was elected after it was discovered he used to be in the Hitler Youth I thought that would hurt his chances... :P

He was in the hitler youth, along with every other german youngster.
He also manned an Anti Air missile thing... but he deserted the German army and was taken as an American POW.
That changed my view on him quite a bit.

:o Igg double-posted.

I am going to be pope.

And when I do get to be pope, I'm selling every expensive thing in Vatican City and donating the money to the poor.

And saving some for me to buy Premium Neopets and a paid LJ. :P
