i don't know will this help at all but i think this is how the rooms are connected

Well, I'm leaning toward the "it doesn't matter if it's lit or not, as long as the room looks like the one in the screenshot" theory. I had set up all my items in both my lit rooms, tried different configurations in each one before putting down the food, and kept getting the same message. However, when I brought all the items to a room that had exits in the same places as the ones in the screenshot, I got the additional message. This room was not lit.

The only difference that I could tell between the screenshot and my situation was that I had picked up my key just as the monster came. It wasn't on the ground.

Just my two cents.

My room does not look like the one in the screenshot. It is flipped, so I don't think it matters which room it is, lit or unlit. I think it is just different for everyone

Well, I'm stumped. Shouldn't there be a split sometime soon, so we can consolidate all the information into one post?

just rearranged it in the same order in the room I used to begin with and it worked again...going to try changing the post and chair...

I don't know if this had any effect or not, but I got the message with my trash pile and mirror on the same X coordinate.

well i finally got the reflection event... i got it in an unlit room that looked like the one in the screenshot except that it was flipped -- instead of the door on the right, mine was on the left. rotten food in the middle, mirror in foreground, lamppost at the back, and i was just putting down the chair near where the key is in the screenshot.

has anyone gotten any other event?
