Altador Cup 2007 [split #1]
Moderator: Moderators
People are complaining about how difficult it is, particularly with the new balls etc...but to be fair...last year a lot of us got very good at the game and it was a case of playing to 9-0 and then running around with the ball until the whistle blew.
Introducing new balls and new behaviours adds something to the game, giving it a new angle. I have yet to get higher than 6-0 and that was with a lucky run of fire.
*blinks pathetically* Why are people getting flack for supporting Roo Island? I'm supporting Darigan but that doesn't mean I feel an urge to laugh at anyone supporting Faerie Land. Although now I think of it...

But here's a trick, All you gota do it hover over your teamate and charge the person holding the ball, once you get it, then go towards the goal then quickly turn where the goalie is not at and shoot, thats my best trick and works almost everytime except with the faerie ball.
Ohhh thank you!!
Hehe, it sounds so simple when you say it like that. I'm still no good, but at least now I can score a point or two per game. I'll keep practicing.
But now... once this starts, if I score a couple points and still lose the game, if I send that score, will it give me a few points and help out my team? Or do losses hurt? Or do only wins count?

Mods, just a suggestion, I think it would be useful to put this link in the first post of every split

Am I the only one who finds the game easy?
And to think I'm usually bad at games involving speed.
My strategy is simple: wait for the other team to get the ball and pass, then select the closest player, run towards the opponent with the ball, steal the ball and shoot while most of the opponents are not defending.
Anyway, the reason I didn't want to choose Shenkuu is that it seems to be overly popular. I'd rather go with Roo Island, it should (hopefully) have less but more dedicated players.

I must say I still know almost nothing about the Altador Cup (didn't participate last year), so are the teams very different in skill or something? And if I understood correctly, the number of supporters for each team doesn't matter either.
Someone quoted me in this thread saying something I didn't say, so to clarify: as far as I can tell, from observing the AC last year, the teams to win are the ones supported by the Neopets users that get the best scores at the Yooyuball game - not the teams that have the most supporters, or the teams that TNT decide are the best. In other words, as Wind says, pick the team you think will have the players that are most dedicated.
That's not why I chose RI, though. I chose RI because it's my home team.
People don't seem to read previous threads, so would it be helpful to anyone if I posted my Yooyuball guide in a petpage, or is everyone using their own tactics?
Alternatively, if we could get an FAQ on the first post, that'd be great. People keep asking the same questions (where are the banners, how do I get my players back to starting positions, how does the scoring work, how do I score with the Darigan ball), sometimes more than once in a single PAGE of the thread. :p
