I never updated to SP2. I have read too many stories of the pain it causes.
You should be fine if you surf smart (and use firefox  ). |

I use Adblock, IE tab, SessionSaver, Web Developer, SearchStatus, HTML Validator (i highly recommend this one), Tabbrowser preferences, Anonymouser, Flashblock, Greasemonkey, OperaView, Right-Click-Link, and Google Suggest.

Maybe you should try and log in with a different browser (if you were using IE try firefox or opera - or visa versa).
If this does work, it could just be a problem with your cache. Try pressing CTRL+F5 on the site after you attempt to log in.

Also, phpBB does not keep a record of your IP address, unlike most popular bulletin board systems. However, there are hacks to enable this, which PPT might have done (I don't know).

There is essentially one way to track what sites you visit.
Someone accesses your history or they install a trojan that logs all outbound connections.
Don't worry though, this is not a problem if you take precautions (such as firewalls, antivirus, etc).
