Actually I have a question about Passover and I'm looking for some education. ^_^>

When exactly IS Passover (and Chanukah for that matter) each year? I mean, Christmas is always the 25th of December and Easter is always the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring. So I'm just curious to know how the calander works as far as the Jewish holidays go. I've never had that explained to me. :)

Unlike the English calendar, the Jewish calendar goes according to the moon. Which is why the holidays fall out on different English dates each year. Passover is celebrated the day the Jews came out of Egypt, on the 15th of the Jewish month of Nissan, which is usually around March/April. And Chanukah is celebrated on the 25th of Kislev, usually in December.

I'm going to be home a whole Passover. I can't wait. :)

Interesting. I always knew that there was a different calander involved because the New Year is in....October (right?). But I admit I never really gave having a different set of months that much thought. Catholocism has it's own seperate calander for liturgical purposes that includes lengths of time such as Advent and Lent. The cycle starts with Advent but it doesn't involve months. So when I think of religious calanders, I admit I tend to automatically think of something similar to what is familiar to me.

Thanks very much for the info. Looks like I'm gonna pay Google a little visit to help get some more out of it. :)

Anyway, isn't the seder this Saterday?
I'm not a very religous person, so I probably won't keep kosher, but I am thankfull for the 2 week vacation from school...
