Although you're entitled to your opinion, I don't believe comments like that belong in a thread like this.

Benedict the 16th... if i'm not mistaken.
actually, i think my mom said it was the 63rd.....
I hink what your mum ment was that he's the 263rd person to be the pope. He's the 265th pope as Benedict XIV was the pope 3 times. o,0
And Ratzinger was the head of the Doctrine Of The Faith, which was the part of the Holy See that controled the Spanish Inquisition. Just as long as he doesn't bring it back, I'm happy. Although I hope he becomes more liberal because if he shuts off relations with the other religions and different groups (gays and lesbians, pro-abortionists etc.) as that may just destroy the work that John Paul II strived towards.

Naw, hopefully it'll be off the news. As good as it is that there is a new one, I'm getting a little bored with hearing nothing but The Pope! on tv.
Better than Michael Jackson.
Look on the bright side... this whole thing could have been a lot worse.
It could have been a reality tv show.
Next Pope or Pope Idol or Pope-vivor or something. Cardinals get voted out of the conclave one by one. I think that would definitely make Catholicism more popular. Get them to compete in physical challenges or trivia or eat bugs or something for immunity. I'm surprised Mark Burnett didn't jump on this one.

This is true. However, you don't have to be Catholic to be elected Pope. Any unmarried male can be elected, but would need to convert to Catholicism in order to accept.

He was in the hitler youth, along with every other german youngster. He also manned an Anti Air missile thing... but he deserted the German army and was taken as an American POW. That changed my view on him quite a bit.
so hes a traitor and is going to hell then?
all in jest but having somone who commited the greatest sin (for whatever reason) as pope is somewhat.. well, its funny, but i have an odd sence of humour so..
