Okay, so I just got my schedule for the new school year. Nothing major, I have the bad Latin and History teachers, but that's about it.

Oh, wait. I'm in the wrong English class.

When they made us pick our classes, my mom insisted that I sign up for Honors, even though I didn't have the grades and I didn't want to do it. I told my English teacher not to sign me up for it, and I didn't do the work required for those wanting to get into the Honors class. Consequently, I didn't get the summer reading packet for Honors either.

Blah blah blah, rest of the summer. I get my schedule, scan it over...Yay. Some bright-spark guidance person stuck me in Honors because that's what my mom put down on the stupid form. I told my mom about it, and she said that I should have been in Honors. She's refusing to call the guidance office and tell them to fix my schedule, and she's giving me THIS WEEKEND to do the work for Honors that I SHOULDN'T EVEN HAVE TO DO. I don't even know what it is! But apparently it's MY problem now! So now I have to walk into school on the first day and explain to my teacher that I don't have the required reading done because my mom and some guidance person are IDIOTS.

And if you aren't able to then just don't do the work and go to your councilor first thing when school starts. Tell him/her that there's a mistake in you schedule and they should be able to transfer you to another class.

It works for me. (I hope).

Turn up on the first day and tell them it was a mistake- you didn't get the reading panic, and anyway, you don't want to be in honours.

Unfortunately, at my school, you have to have parent permission to change your schedule or drop a class. Something like this happened to me before, and even though it was their fault my parents had to sign a slip saying it was okay for me to change classes.

Go to class, then when something comes up to do with the reading, say, "OH MY GOODNESS! I'm in the wrong class!"... Or "Oh my goodness I'm about to have my baby" might get you out of class too, but only for one class.

Or go to guidence and explain the situation. Get them to talk to your mom.

"Oh my goodness I'm about to have my baby" might present a problem for boys. I recognize that's not an issue for Amythest, but any guys out there might want to try something different, should such a situation arise.
If you've not done the work, getting the teacher's recommendation that you drop the class might go a ways with your mother.

Either way Amethyst, I'd talk to the teacher, and your counselor and at least try to get the class switched. Or maybe not bother to do the Honors work.

You could, of course, just refuse to do/not do the work until they chuck you out of the class.

I agree with shapu with getting the teacher's recommendation, then she might listen more...

If not, I think you should have a like, serious talk with your mom to tell her what you want. Because (although she's somewhat responsible for your choices) it's really your choice. We have Academic/Applied courses here, and I don't agree on people who force their sons or daughters to take Academic if they want to take Applied, because simply put, most of the time, they won't do well.

I got a screwed up schedule last year, but I didn't have to get parental permission. =/
