Wow, looks amazing. Looks like they're sticking with the GC controllers too, which is great. I do find the addition of Snake absolutely hilarious, though. xD

This will be the best Nintendo game ever (well, best one not for NES). It has Snake, and Metaknight, and Wario, and SNAKE! The graphics are amazing, too... maaan... 2007 needs to come quicker. :C

Actually, I've heard it's a laser whip. Even better than a sword (especially considering the amount of people who already have swords).

I wonder who else they'll add. Apparantly whoever created Snake wanted to see him in Melee, and there's an NES Metal Gear game so he at least fits in.

Someone from nintendo said there would be one or two more non-nintendo characters added as well as snake, the only rule is that they had to have appeared on a nintendo system.

A lot of people in other forums think they might add one of the megamans.

According to 1up, three more Nintendo characters have been confirmed: Bowser Jr., Ridley, and Cel-Shaded/Wind Waker Link.

Sadly though three from SSBM didn't make the cut: Ice Climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, and Young Link.

According to the report, Sakurai wants a 40-character roster with 1-2 more non-Nintendo characters. My hope is that one isn't Megaman as it is Samus can kick his butt double time and with Snake not having guns (since one reason is that as it was there were plenty of fantasy guns in the game as it was) it might be more of a reason not to.

Ack, I'd rather take ICs, G&W, and YL over those three new characters. x_x (Though, I suppose it's okay if Ridley replaces Young Link, but Bowser Junior and Windwaker Link? Ew. Heck, we only need one Link.)

JUST A RUMOR!!!! PROVEN FALSE, TOO.

It's just a rumor. It was a typical 'so and so said they heard this from so and so' senario. The guy who spread it came to GameFaqs and denounced it. Besides, the official website would've updated by now. Also, why'd they kick out Ice Climbers and Mr. G&W? They're two of the more unique characters in Melee.

That doesn't mean WW Link, Bowser Jr. and Ridley won't get in, it's just that they aren't in as of now. The bit about 40 characters with 1-2 more third-party is true though.

I've been active at GameFaqs lately (username = MemeoryCard59), and it seems as though the two most frequently discussed characters that people want in are Geno (SMRPG) and Sonic (Sega...duh). A few other characters, namely Krystal (Starfox), Wolf (Starfox), Fawful (ML:SS), a bunch of Fire Emblem characters, and a few old classics seem to be talked about quite often too.

I've been at a lot of forums lately (everything but this one) and one thing I've noticed is that people will believe any baseless rumor they hear.
Although I haven't heard that it's been explicitly proven false. That may be because I try not to read rumors.
