OK. I'm not very techie or a regular, but I came here because you're the most security-savvy people I know. The facts, please, as distinct from all the rumours I've heard:

Is it now safe to enter the Trading Post?
Is it now safe to enter the Neoboards?
Could someone really have hacked the trading post?
Is it safe to buy from user shops?

Is that a "check it out it's cool/useful" or "on the subject of CGs in trades, here's a trade you should check out"?

I was just on the Neoboards a few hours ago, and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. And I can still access my account, so I either got really lucky or the CG threat on the Neoboards is gone.

I can't say the same for trades, though, because I've been avoiding that area like the plague.

That's what I was going to ask... *shifty eyes*

I checked it out using Firefox and changed my password anyway, here's a screenie of it-

My guess would be that they are well aware of the situation, and are doing everything they can to fix it quietly and without ever admitting that anything was wrong in the first place.

They're kind of Soviet in that regard.

Can someone tell me what to make of this? It was someone who added me in MSN and I adressed them. The following talk ensued. Maybe I'm completely paranoid, and semi-accusing an innocent person, but it was a strange talk for me. I have the person in question blocked at the moment.
Blue is me, red is the person I was talking to. In advance, I apologize if I am falsely accusing anyone, but this talk struck me as extremely weird, and the days are paranoid.

Anyway, i suggest you change your Neo & hotmail passwords, if that email account is linked to Neopets, change it. I recently created a new email account not linked to anything else i have purely for Neo.

And keep the person blocked, if you dont know/trust them

Thanks for replying. What exactly do you mean 'linked to neopets'? The adress is nowhere on my user-lookup, though it is my adress for password retrieval. I never create an adress purely for something, I just created one adress, and have all my people there in different groups. You think I was CG'ed on Neo and this person got my e-mail adress from there? Now you really got me worried...

EDIT: Mmm... My email adress still seems to be the same. Changed my password just to be sure.

If your MSN/hotmail account is the one used for password retrieval, you might want to change it. People have had their MSN cookies cg'ed as well, and there have been cases of people hacking e-mail accounts, sending a neopets password to the e-mail address, and then reading the password, thereby getting into the victim's neopets account. That's why they recommend not having your username the same as your e-mail account name. You could get a free yahoo e-mail account and use that for your neopets e-mail; then don't give it away to anyone. If no one knows the account exists, they can't try to get your e-mail password to steal your neopets password. Just make sure to check any free e-mail account regularly to keep it from being deleted and assigned to someone else.
