There are other pet sites you can go to if you want that kind of stuff.

Neopets though.. should not have any more anime stylization than it currently does - and I'm an anime fan here. While a lot of neopets staff and artists are into sci-fi, fantasy and anime stuff.. it shouldn't spill over into the site anymore than it already has. It's good as it is. XP

Actually, they probably can't have apostrophes in the item names - I don't recall seeing any item name with one in it, in fact. I think it messes up the coding somehow. So it's not that they won't use them, it's that they can't.

Course, then that brings up the question, if they knew that was the case, why didn't they just make it the "You Are the Best Card"? (Maybe it sounds like the affection is being directed at the card itself, instead of the recipient of the card?)

I just wanted to confirm that that's the reason why they can't use single quotes in item names. In coding/programming both double and single quotes are used, so it could possibly mess something up. I think TNT said something about it in an editorial somewhere.

It can't be that hard for them to fix... there are many items in Kingdom of Loathing that include apostrophes.

That's absolutely right. When they first programmed the site, the decision had to be made, and it was obviously no apostrophes. If TNT decided to do differently, they'd have to go through literally every file and revise the coding to accept apostrophes. It's a pain in the rear to do, trust me.

Also, to keep to the topic, here's some Ruki Day stuff from Jellyneo. The potions are rather sparkly.

Ugh, no. Why would you want them to look like boring, generic anime art? It's one of the poorest art styles in modern media and virtually all looks the same.

I actually am starting to wonder if TNT is upset with the fan sites finding "upcoming" art. I only say this because JellyNeo (and the Daily Neopets) posted upcoming Altador Cup prizes that were found on the servers. When asked why the images were removed, no answer was really given, and the thread locked. Is it possible that Lawyerbot is telling the fan sites to knock it out - they're sharing copywrited/trademarked information? Anyone have any theories?

From the time I was first introduced to the New Features untill a few months ago there was a web page on one of their test servers that basically released the news a few days in advance. Some of the time though there was items listed that never showed up in the news or if they did would show up a few weeks/months later. Also, with the new site design they have blocked directory digging. I had a script that would run through a given URL checking every letter/number combination and if it returned a non 404 error then it would enter it into a database. Once the script was completed only those items that were new or had not been found before would be left in the table. I than pulled up another URL on my server and it would give me a page with all of the new images along with the image names. It was pretty slick, but like I said they have since blocked this, probably detecting it as a Denial of Service attack.
