I broke my toe on the weekend and I just wanted someone who's broken a toe before to answer a question for me. I hope I can explain this sensation accurately..
It feels as if there is something touching my toe where there is absolutely nothing in contact with it. It's this kind of constant pressure near the base of the toe, almost as if something is pushing in on both sides of the toe. It is incredibly unpleasent, but not quite painful. The feeling started probably Tuesday morning, and I broke it on Saturday night.
So my question is, is this a normal feeling with a broken toe or do I need to get it checked out again?

Re: Anyone broken a toe?
Yeah I broke my toe years ago. Never healed properly because it doesn't bend properly anymore and I think I have arthritus in it.
As for your question, I sometimes get that with my other toes, but I never had it when I broke it.

Never broken a toe (Or anything, actually), but I have ripped a toe nail out with a pair of pliers?
Worst bit of that was, surprisingly, that I'm apparently allergic to Iodine.

Re: Anyone broken a toe?
I've broken both of my little toes, what you describe sounds pretty similar to how mine felt.
Mine have never healed properly, they break really easily now because they are weak.
One of them i first broke when I was 13 and it is really mangled and I can't move it at all now it's rebroke so many times.
The other one I first broke last year and that's not so bad.

Thanks for my sat Jade MWAH!
Re: Anyone broken a toe?
The pressure you're feeling is related to two things: swelling, and the healing process.

Re: Anyone broken a toe?
I've broken all my toes (thanks to horses and an older brother). But yeah, what you're describing is definately normal. I know it sucks but it's one of those things you have to live with. Toes are notoriously crummy when they're healing because they're hard to mobilize. Just try to stay off it as much as possible.. You did have it checked out by a physician though didn't you?
I sympathize with your pain though. I have a torn muscle in my back and am off work. (And i'm not that cranky though... too much codeine in my system!)

Evisceration is a sign of respect.

I being another horse rider here with 3 older broters can definitely say the same thing. But what you are feeling is normal, and it is going to take some time to heal. Swelling doesn't really help that much either, but just try to be careful so that you wont whack your foot into something because I can tell you that is bloody painful!!!!!
