I think the potions give pets weird markings. See the Grundo modeling the Evil Twin Goeatee? It has weird markings, and I think they're the result fo the potions.

LOL can't stop laughing this is funny. Especially as on the podcast #33, we all started posting comments about how there should be a parrellel universe plot, and now theres an EVIL PARRALLEL UNIVERSE DAY!

I know it's a stretch, maybe, but I immediately thought, "Someone must be a fan of Order of the Stick," as that comic has a recurring villian that happens to be an evil twin of one of the protagonists -- and his goatee is really the only way to tell him from the good guy.
