In Japan, the traditional Christmas mean is Kentucky Fried Chicken, because when KFC first came to Japan they said that it was the traditional Christmas meal in America, and they believed them. I just found this interesting.

Yeah, now they know that it isn't the traditional Holiday meal, but since it actually is now, they stuck with it.

No, KFC opened in Japan around Christmas time, so they told (i.e lied) to them, and told them that it was.

Where did you find this? It sounds fake to me, but an article or some other source could convince me :)

Even if it is fake, that's pretty hilarious. :)

Believe it or not, it's backed up by Wikipedia (sort of)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky_Fried_Chicken
Quote:
A life size statue of the Colonel stands in front of most stores in Japan. Fried chicken is an especially popular dish at Christmas time and on Christmas Eve many families (who have made reservations weeks in advance), have their traditional Christmas dinner of Kentucky Fried Chicken at home.[30] KFC is so prevalent in Japan that many Japanese unknowingly consider it to be a Japanese company.[30]

So whether or not the American marketing team told the Japanese that it was a festive meal in the US is irrelevant, really.

Actually, I think fast food is a traditional Christmas Meal. I mean, one meal might be Turkey and stuff, but that take time to prepare, and you have to eat SOMETHING while you wait for your food to cook. And then some people don't have families or don't know how to cook for themselves, so they just eat out some place. Could be Pizza...could be a Steak house..could be chicken..

I figure anyone in the business can claim their food is traditional Christmas fare. Lots of people these days don't want to bother with cooking. And just think..no mess to clean up afterwards!

KFC... traditional meal? Oh dear.

There's a rumor going around that in Australia that women who eat KFC become more voluptuous due to the steroids that is rumored to be injected into the KFC chicken.

Who knows if that is true, but maybe I think a big reason for that is just because of an overall increase in bodyfat due to eating junk food and takeaway that is KFC.

I haven't heard that. It's probably just the ridiculously high fat content.

The myth I've always heard about KFC is that they can't call it "chicken" because it's so genetically modified. Some even claim that the KFC is a large alien organism, and the food is cut from it somehow. I've heard yet another myth that KFC mistreats the chicken on their farms (and before I opened this thread, that's what I thought it would be about).

Whatever the truth is, KFC is awesome. I love getting it "double crispy" and dipped in buffalo sauce :D
