I took a very long, unintended hiatus from Neopets and have just logged into my account after about two years of absence. (According to my profile account, the account is 35 months old. I have been playing Neopets since 2003 under a different account. In 2005 I switched to this one. This is my main account as of now.) To my surprise, the site has changed it's layout, and my user profile had a different layout, and many many things seem to be changed.

Now, can anyone help give me a Sparknotes version of an update? What is different? What is going on right now? Are there new dailies, did they remove anything? etc.

I want to be caught up in this newfangled Neopia.

TNT is redesigning Neohomes, they made a Mario Party-like game called Keyquest, Altador Cup III finished a few weeks ago, customer service has gotten a lot worse, TNT has changed their focus from avatars and the BD to pet dress-up (called customization).

Oh, yeah, it's also been (even more) prettified, advertified, buggified, and kiddified too. Trading post eats NP (has for months now), and problems don't get addressed (pokes siggy). On the plus side, the Daily Dare was fun, and we have had a few decent plots, too. The pound was down for over a year, but now you can transfer pets between accounts. Gambling games and scratchcards were down for maintenance; not sure of their current status.

New dailies? There's the Qasalan Expellibox (NC mall) and Daily Puzzle (on the pet central page) off the top of my head... and Wheel of Slime.

Oh yeah.. a lot of the interface has changed making it better/worse and then you missed a lot of plots

Wow, you remember me! That is amazing. You have an amazing memory. After being gone so long, though, it's nice to be remembered. :-)

Things that are different... moved to Iowa in 2006 and became a cosmetologist. That's about it! Haha. But things are going well. It's kind of exciting to get back into Neopets. We'll see how I like all the new things...

Is the Lab still around??

Yeah, the lab is still here Slots have been down for months now and TNT hasn't bothered to fix them Scratchcards were down for a few months, but have finally been fixed. Pound was down for at least a year but they finally fixed it and added a Transfer option. TNT added even more ads and is placing everything in boxes, probably to fit in even more ads.

Don't forget the Meteor Crash site, and if you've not done the Altador Plot, it's still open (check out the Plot Council for a walk-through). There's a daily associated with that as well, along with a pretty decent site theme.

I might check out the Altador plot... and I'm a little interested in this Neopet mall. What is NC? "Neocredit" or something? And how does someone get it? I mean, I'm completely content with NP, but this NC thing is a little bizarre to me!

And how about the new user pages? With the old ones, a bit of CSS could alter the look and make it unique and nice. Has anyone figured out a good way to alter their user page with CSS? Frankly, I think the default is a little... well, bleh!

NC is "NeoCash". It can be bought with real cash. 100NC = $1 (US dollar) Of course, you get a free 150NC, and you can win it off the Expellibox.

I'm not sure about about the CSS bit. I never had gotten into that to begin with.

Neocash! From real cash. Well, I am completely content with my NP and not spending my real money for something not tangible. :-) What a silly concept...

EDIT: I just realized the Altador plot sounded very familiar, looked at it, and realized, I was right in the midst of this forum while we were all trying to solve it together! I don't think I ever finished it, and I'm trying to figure out where I left off, because it'd be a shame if I had to start all over again.

The Lunar Temple is new to you too, I guess. There are quite a few guides to it on google, but you figure out how to do it on your own after a while.

Oh, yeah, there are some new worlds/neighborhoods: Lutari Island, Shenkuu, Neovia... Neopia spins when you explore now.
