Asparagus costs 9,859,457 nps (Adam Avie)

#1 Post by Daze »

The 'About Us' page has been changed and Adam has been completely wiped out from Neo.

The avatar is now available at the cost of 9,859,457 nps.

According to current market trends, this asparagus should cost 9,859,457 NP per kilogram.
The 'About Us' page is really a misnomer - it doesn't tell us anything about them at all!!

It seems that Viacom really wants Adam out of the picture - it seems to co-incide with the news that Adam and Donna are going to start up a new pet site. ;)

Good ol' Neopets.

QFT.

Seriously, though, they bumped it down 2 mil in value, and now even though it's the "adam avatar"...it doesn't even directly involve his name? o_O

Although it has "Adam" on the image, the avatar is called Number Six. So in years to come, a Urban Legend will start up about why we call it the Adam Avatar or "Going for Adam".

It's always been called the "number six" avatar just like that cartoon character has always been called "number six" and the cartoon-donna has always been poptart. :)

I'm underwhelmed by the page though, surely they have more interesting history tidbits than that? I think the image is adorable, if not stupidly misleading. CUBICLE GRAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *eyetwitch*

Yes, it has always been called the Number Six avie, I hope my post didn't suggest otherwise, but to get it, you *had* to visit Adam's nps. Now there is no mention of Adam.

People will probably still refer to it as Adams Avie.

Just looked at the page again, and it has now dropped to 5,271,254. I just got the avatar so that seems to be working all right. I wonder if they'll make the price fluctuate every day?

I was so paranoid when I got it that I had the "about us" page in one tab and the bank in another -- so all I did was refresh on "about us" to get the avatar and then redeposit -- only one page load.

I hope they don't deflate this avatar too much, and they raise it back up again soon. It should be something you have to work really hard for.

Neopets® began way back in 1997 in a dingy little computer room. The site was launched on 15th November 1999.
No credit at all?!

:) It's actually been driving me crazy that the old staff was still being listed as current staff...they have drifted so far from the original vision, it just didn't seem right that they kept their names stamped to it. It's gone from something super cool to a tween's dream.

:( I worked really hard to earn over 11 mil for that avatar and now it's so much easier

EDIT:
Oh...and not surprised they don't say ANYTHING about themselves...that'd be way too personal for them. I can see it now:

"We're a corporation called Viacom! Now we own Neopets and have turned into a fun place for you, kids! Nevermind the ads on the top, sides, bottom, and center of your screen, just play the games we've designed specifically for you. Oh! And don't forget to ask your mommies and daddies for NeoCash Cards and all the fun merchandise now available at your local Target, 7-11, or Walmart."

Well, I just got the av for the 5 mill price.

In some ways I'm kind of disappointed - I have around 8.2 million, so it's been my goal for the past 1-2 years to get the av on my own merits. Now I don't know what to work for :(
Gone, forever.

Due to a recent spending spree, I'm still about 3 million short :( Ah well... Someday I'll get it.
