I thought I got through everything quickly today. Just went to deposit my extra NP and realized I missed the last part of step 6. Thanks for doing these, Pickles! I'm not working tomorrow, so hopefully I can take a turn, but I do have a ton of food prep to do (dehydrating, basically cooking a month's worth of fresh produce).

According to JN, the max points possible are 37,208 (37,218 if you include the achievement I have that they haven't made a checkbox for yet). So it definitely has to be cookies or a ton of glitches.

Maybe they meant the game would be available during the next act? I should probably submit a ticket.

But I need to do my FQ stuff first.

This chapter feels very disjointed so far. They've run all the way to Haunted Woods and just now Tavi wants to turn back? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

There is a glitch where you can actually earn 300 (or 400 with the cookie) points per day for hospital shifts. It has something to do with having a shift finish before midnight but not actually going through and clicking it until after midnight. For some reason, this ends up in kinda a limbo, where it counts towards the previous day (but also doesn't as it seems to have reset your points there?) and doesn't count towards the current day.
TNT is aware of this "glitch," but have essentially said it's OK to have the extra points, because they can't tell who is doing it on purpose and who is doing it because that's when they are able to do their shifts. I have picked up extra points without intending to a couple of times just due to when I'm able to get to the computer and when I'm not. I didn't even really find out about it until I realized that my points totals on the JN counter were really off and I couldn't figure out why it kept happening. When I finally had time to look into it, the above is what I found. I'm still under the total possible points, though.
I suspect the people that are well over 40k points now are definitely using the glitches intentionally to earn more points, possibly coupled with cookies. I mean, they could be doing it unintentionally, but...the odds of hitting it every single time without doing so intentionally aren't very good. Especially not when you're talking 6-7k points more than the current possible total should be.

That explains why I had so many extra points the other night when I slept through my shift. Mostly I've gotten extra points from the site glitching and clicking more than once to end a shift because it's never obvious if the click really worked on mobile (because there's an invisible thing covering the very bottom of the screen, which means sometimes the button doesn't work... And usually double clicking does nothing.)

I'm getting 4 shifts per day most days, which gives me a lot of mostly useless items. But I think as my times push later and later, I'll be less worried about missing a shift and just let it reset overnight from now on. I've been setting alarms on my watch (a very mild vibration only, which is why I sleep through them if my body needs to), but I'm already at 1:40am, which is very late. Knowing I can actually sleep and at least get some compensation in the form of making up the last hundred or so points I missed from glitches/site down time seems like a nice bonus for a good night's sleep.

I won't be trying to take advantage every night, just whenever my body says it needs the rest.

Which might be tonight by the time I finish the FQ stuff.
