Dr Sloth Plot Step Organisation & Help - Token Testing
As a lot of posts have been made about the new plot step regarding how to do it and organising the teamwork involved this step will have it's own thread
Please use this thread to problem-solve and organise yourselves for the new plot step.
To discuss the plot in general please use the regular Dr Sloth Plot thread.

This is a chatroom to organise groups and solve problems in realtime
Also continuing from the Dr Sloth split, I tried to get 10kg in the rod section and I did, but it just went to slag. Got to be something to do with percentages (duh) just can't work out what it is.
Edit: Another thing that didn't work for the acid:
I've got the volume in centimetres and I've multiplied by the metal grams then divided that result by 60 (for the time). No luck.

Wow... I'm getting ToW vibes here
Is there some theory I could help testing? Otherwise I'm just going at random and producing oodles of kilograms of scrap metal.

I managed to get 2 rods yesterday, but I had just picked the first 3 that didn't add up to more than 10kg, so I have no idea what the solution is. As for the acid, I did a bunch of math and then couldn't figure how the time (seconds) factored in...ah well

Re: Dr Sloth Plot Step Organisation & Help - Token Testing
I'm looking for a room to be in.

Set by Byakuya'<3
Re: Dr Sloth Plot Step Organisation & Help - Token Testing
we have 2 people in room 230
you could join the chat page, it's a lot easier to communicate and there's less lag than here (at least there is for me

Thanks, that worked for me!
I managed to make one, yay!

Re: Dr Sloth Plot Step Organisation & Help - Token Testing
Here's a more-concise version of the instructions:
Control rods:
Move the lever so that the rod is almost touching the smallest flashing dot, then lock in. You can be off by about 1. (There is a way to figure out the exact number, but it could be cheating.)
Acids:
The percentage is the percent of the total acid that you need to contribute. So you want:
Total volume * Percentage * 10 ml
The identities of the acids are:
1=hydro, 2=trans, 3=mer, 4=fluor, 5= cyano,
6=pern, 7=zafa, 8=tikio 9=xwee, 10=ox
Ex. if you need to contribute 7% Hydroslothic to 1.0 L, you should pick 70mL of the first jar.
Don't forget to lock in!
Gravitics:
You have to put down three dots. Only the last one counts, but you use the first two dots to figure out where to put your third dot. I suggest preparing an Excel worksheet or being really fast with a calculator, since you'll only get about 40 seconds to do the math and place the third dot. You do NOT need to get the last dot placed exactly.
1) Put the first dot at (0,0), get the first distance "a" that pops up under the first dot
2) Put the second dot at (400,0), get the second distance "b"
3) Calculate:
x = (a^2 - b^2 + 400^2 / 800)
y = sqrt(a^2 - x^2)
"a^2" means a squared, and note the "x", not "b"
4) Plop down the third dot near (x,y) (within about 5), and lock in
---
** FYI:
Step 2's equation comes from: v liters * 1000mL/L * x percent * 0.1 units/percent = v*x*10
Step 3's equations comes from solving:
x^2 + y^2 = a^2
(x-400)^2 + y^2 = b^2

Space for three players in 889, if anyone wants to give it a go.
*Edit* Also solved.
It's funny, the hardest part has ended up being the heating rods, and not the other two tests.

I'm taking a break from this. My head is going to splode.

Re: Dr Sloth Plot Step Organisation & Help - Token Testing
in room 4848 we've got room! Seriously. It doesn't matter if this message is 5 minutes old already, I bet you we've still got an empty chair.
Here are the steps all solved for you, too:
