This story is absolutely amazing. After getting home around 3:30 pm EST, I turned on the news and saw this story live and was in shock.

Summary:

So there was a family in Colorado who loves weather stuff, and they launched a weather balloon today from their house. One of their sons said his brother climbed into the balloon right before it took off, so the police spent a couple hours chasing it down until it landed probably around 30-40 minutes ago. The police open it up and the kid isn't inside, so now they're doing a ground search to try and find him.

Holy moly. This is one of those times I hope it's a hoax. At least he'd be safe.

I hope they find him safe and sound -- and if he did ride in the balloon, he'll have quite a story to tell!

ETA: Just went to the gym, and they said on the news that he'd been found safe at home. Bet he accidentally unleashed the balloon, got scared, and hid.

Or his parents <allegedly> put him up to it so they could get their own reality TV show.
