I'm pretty bitter about all live action remakes. The TV to movie ones are going to suck just as much as the other "sumerzing" movies have *cough*Escaflowne*cough* and there is no point in just making an anime film live action and Americanized rather than to cheese off the fans big time.

No, but the live action movie isn't based off of the anime movie.

The original is the novel. Have you read the novel?
