So the movie and the novel are drastically different?

If such a "remake" is made, my belief is that it will be disappointing or not up to par to the original. I hope I'm wrong, though.

I'm pretty bitter about all live action remakes. The TV to movie ones are going to suck just as much as the other "sumerzing" movies have *cough*Escaflowne*cough* and there is no point in just making an anime film live action and Americanized rather than to cheese off the fans big time.

I won't be watching it.

No, but the live action movie isn't based off of the anime movie.

The original is the novel. Have you read the novel?
